After being questioned about this, and researching my own information, my
statement turns out to be an assumption that the relationship between state
and tribal law in Washington is the same as it is in Oregon, where I was
told my Oregon permit was not valid on reservation territory. Please do
not infer that I have any more reliable knowledge than that. I confess I
did not check with the local police for my last trip, which was rather
hastily planned (a funeral).
