# My understanding in CA (and what I do) is to carry guns in a locked # container, not in the passenger compartment or glove box. Since I # have a SUV, I use locked cases in the trunk. Others who drive regular # cars, lock the guns in the trunk without locking cases. As for ammo, # I am not aware of any requirements for locking it up, but it must not # be in the gun. I simply carry it in the trunk in a canvas bag or ammo # box.

In Kalifornia, a locked trunk is also considered a "locked container"; as long as it isn't accessible from the passenger compartment. My experience is that Kalifornia is not a "problem state" when it comes to transporting arms, as long as it is done properly.
