# My understanding in CA (and what I do) is to carry guns in a locked
# container, not in the passenger compartment or glove box. Since I
# have a SUV, I use locked cases in the trunk. Others who drive regular
# cars, lock the guns in the trunk without locking cases. As for ammo,
# I am not aware of any requirements for locking it up, but it must not
# be in the gun. I simply carry it in the trunk in a canvas bag or ammo
# box.
In Kalifornia, a locked trunk is also considered a "locked container";
as long as it isn't accessible from the passenger compartment. My
experience is that Kalifornia is not a "problem state" when it comes to
transporting arms, as long as it is done properly.
