#I have a shotgun which IDs very close to one shown on pg 44 of the
# April '07 American Rifleman.
# Mine is: 12 ga 32" dbl bbl, hammer, St. Louis Arms Co., Fine
# Damascus, Climax No. 2, choke & choke, under bbl: 76XXX, A4PD,
# Birmingham proofmarks
# Nice breech engraving, stock checkering. Action very tight, bore is
# perfect, shiny.
# This is NOT your grandpa's corn crib gun. Bought any time between 1880
# and 1910.
# Can anyone suggest any way to determine actual manufacturer?
#
St. Louis Arms Co. guns were made or imported by 2 companies. Crescent Fire
Arms Co. and sold by Shapleigh Hardware. Stevens Arms and Tool also made
them and they were sold by Sears Roebuck.
