wrote something wonderfully witty:
#I do not have a shooting range near me (north east North Carolina), but would

#me in the right direction. The weapon would be carried in a locked case.

Are you headed over to Bob's to shoot? If so drop me a line @
zomby-woof@cox.net and maybe I'll meet up with ya. I'm also going to
the SGK Gun Show at the Hampton Convention Center this weekend March
24-25, 2007 and have some discount admission tickets if ya need any.
I'll probably be going both days.
In reference to your exact question; Virginia has a Peaceable journey
law:
"A handgun can be openly carried in a car (must be in full view)
without a permit. However, you don't have to be on a peaceable journey
to do so. Virginia does NOT have any of those silly laws that say you
can only have a gun in the car if you are going to a shooting range or
a gun store or any other place."
If you have your NC CCW Virginia is a full reciprocity state and your
NC CCW will be honored here.
